Another Epic Adventure to Vodafone / Museo de la Reina Sofía / La Noche en Blanco

So. Vodafone. We went back for like the millionth time this week. Good news: Our phones work...or so we think until the next problem arrises. Wish us luck.

Museo de la Reina Sofía - one of the coolest art museums I've been to.

We saw Salvador Dalí, Pabl Picasso, Juan Miró, and more. Amazing. Pictures are on my facebook. I'll upload a few here though. I would definitely go back there. It's also free from 6-8 pm which is awesome.

My favorite: Picasso's Guernica. I was sooooo excited ot see this. In person, this painting is so enormous that I could not really get all of it to fit on my camera screen. I missed a few inches on the left side.

La Noche en Blanco is this awesome festival from 10 pm until 6 am. The museums are open and free, all the cafés are open, bars, restaurants, clubs, parks, everything. There are special exhibits in the street too. There was a sustainability exhibit where visitors took a marker and wrote a definition of cultural or environmental sustainability on the word "Sostenabilidad," which means sustainabilty. There was another where people got post-it notes, wrote a wish, and stuck the post-it to the government the Western Wall but only one night per year and on post-it notes.
The coolest part of this was the people. Life is at night here. At 2 am, the streets were packed. Superly crowded. That would never happen at home. Everyone was out dancing in front of huge dance screens, visiting exhibits, and wandering through museums. So fun!
9/18/09 - The day before
We went to Museo del Prado. It's art is older than Museo de la Reina Sofía. The detail in the paintings with the folds in the fabric and the glowing skin was incredible. Couldn't take pictures in there though.
Also went to Parque del Retiro that day. So beautiful! See facebook pictures.
